GENESEO, N.Y. – Senior Craig DiDomenico (Commack, NY/Commack) scored the game-winning marker propelling the Rensselaer men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over top-seeded SUNY Geneseo in the 2005 Division III Men’s Upstate Soccer Championships.

With the victory, the Red Hawks improve to 10-7-2 overall and advance to the championship game against St. John Fisher.  RPI and Fisher, the third seed, meet on Sunday at 12pm on the campus of SUNY Geneseo.

The game was scoreless until senior Joe Johnson (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) headed a corner kick from the far post back into the six yard area.  DiDomenico then headed the ball into the net for the lone goal of the match at the 64:05 mark.

Junior Nick Bochette (Schaghticoke, NY/Hoosic Valley) was untested in posting the shutout in goal as SUNY Geneseo was unable to tally any of its seven shots on goal.  Geneseo had two goalies combine for three saves in net.
